How long-term climate changes affect fluvial systems is an important reserach question. In the late 1800's, the semi-arid southwest underwent dramatic landscape changes due to the incision of arroyos (Cooke and Reeves, 1976). Arroyos are incised channel systems (fig. 1), such as the Chaco Arroyo studied by Love (1983), that carry large volumes ....

Dec 9, 2014 · The OSL and IRSL dates on seven of the strath terraces and associated alluvial fans in Arroyo Seco are approximately >120 ka, >65 ka, 51–46 ka, 36–35 ka, 9 ka, and 2–1 ka. These dates generally fall within the range of ages reported from many well-dated marine terraces on the California coast that are formed during sea-level high stands. This geology tour focuses on the forces of tectonics and erosion, as they shape the cliffs, beaches, and coastal mesas at Arroyo Burro Beach in Santa Barbara. Explore folds, faults, rock types, landslides, and fossils from the cliffs. Learn about coastal habitat types from estuaries to tidepools to the surf zone.

Vertical deformation was measured at 14 benchmarks within the urban area of Jocotepec Mexico using first-order leveling methods and then spatially analyzed in relation to land subsidence and soil discontinuity patterns. The study area is located within the western portion of the Chapala basin, middle-west Mexico. Observations of vertical surficial …Abstract. The sphericity of a grain should measure the similitude of its shape with that of a sphere. Sphericity is a shape descriptor of long-standing interest for sedimentology. Now it has gained also interest to facilitate discrete element modelling of granular materials. True sphericity was initially defined by a surface ratio that requires ...The purpose of this paper is to present a physically based plasticity model for non‐coaxial granular materials. The model, which we shall call the double slip and rotation rate model (DSR2 model), is a pair of kinematic equations governing the velocity field. The model is based on a discrete micro‐analysis of the kinematics of particles in ...
